At Neomie Events and Decor Services, we believe that every celebration tells a unique story, and we recently had the honor of creating a special one. We were entrusted with organizing an intimate birthday celebration for a 20-year-old experiencing their first birthday in the USA. The event, generously hosted by the grandmother in her charming backyard in Minneapolis, MN, brought together a wonderful mix of friends from college, representing different countries, and family members who traveled from various states to be a part of this memorable day.
The inspiration for this event was to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that celebrated not just a birthday but also the beauty of new beginnings and cherished relationships. The chosen theme colors—white, pink, and gold—were a perfect blend of elegance and youthful joy. White symbolized purity and fresh starts, pink added a touch of playfulness and warmth, and gold brought in an element of sophistication and celebration.
The event took place in the grandmother’s lovely backyard, a space that provided the perfect canvas for our decor. We transformed the area into a cozy yet chic setting, ideal for an intimate gathering. White tents with pink and gold decor were set up to create a sense of elegance and intimacy. Underneath, we placed rectangle tables covered in white linens with pink and gold accents, surrounded by comfortable seating to encourage mingling and conversation.
Each table was adorned with delicate centerpieces featuring a pink roses and greenery garland overlaid on an off-pink cheesecloth runner. The combination of flowers added a soft and romantic feel to the decor, perfectly complemented by flameless flickering led candles scattered across the tables. Each seating was marked with a gold beaded charger plate, adorned with a pink silk napkin elegantly folded with a gold napkin ring. A beautiful balloon arch in white, pink, and gold marked the cake tent entrance, inviting guests into this backyard wonderland.
To make the celebration even more special, we incorporated personal touches that reflected the unique story of the birthday celebrant and the bond with their grandmother. Upon arrival, guests were greeted with a ‘Happy Birthday” backdrop sign in elegant gold lettering, setting the tone for the day.
We created a special dessert corner featuring a stunning cake in white and gold, adorned with pink flowers. The cake was set on a lighted cake stand set with giant pink peony paper flowers. A touch of nostalgia was added with a vintage table and chair patio set, a nod to the grandmother’s cherished tradition of entertaining and hospitality.
The cultural diversity of the guests was also celebrated through the menu, which featured a variety of dishes from various ethnicities, ensuring there was something for everyone to enjoy. From classic American comfort foods to popular international dishes, the buffet was a delightful mix that reflected the rich tapestry of cultures present.
Throughout the afternoon, music, laughter and joy filled the air as guests mingled, shared stories, and enjoyed the delightful setting. A few close friends and family members gave heartfelt speeches, sharing fond memories and warm wishes for the future. To add an interactive element, we set up a photo space with white, pink, and gold balloons allowing guests to capture their special moments with the birthday celebrant.
The highlight of the event was the emotional response from the guest of honor, as a reminder of the love and support that transcends borders and distances.
